You may have read that Tia has rebuilt all aspects of her game over the past year (2021 and continuing into 2022). Here are some helpful online resources that are teaching the highest level skills. These are not referral links or paid advertisements. We have paid for these services and am vouching for them.
Pitching – Internal Rotation
Listen, if you are parent of a pitcher, by default you will become a coach and catcher. Learn and start correctly from the get go, just say, “NO” to hello elbow. Everyone I know who has found success with this style ends up not being able to pitch due to injury and stress by the time they are juniors or seniors in high school, if they make it that far. There is so much out there but so much bad! You can do it without a pitching coach. There are four online pitching providers that we have turned to when building a pitching foundation. We were long time members of Paisley’s Pitching – Toni has a great wealth of information in her courses and Tia uses Paisley’s Plyo balls for recovery and strength. If you have one resource this is a go to. We only stopped our membership because of expense. The cost of travel has really made us focus on our expenses.
One of Tia’s best friends is a member of Amanda Scarborough’s Pitching Angel program. Also a legit online series of training programs!
There are two other online pitching coaches that we take a lot from. Jillian from Fastpitch Power does a great job with social media and provides some great content. We have not used their paid program but they their info is legit. Additionally Danielle Rubin with DR3Pitching offers multiple options and her online digital courses are worth the purchase and have helped with fine details.
Tia was able to develop a strong foundational base with online classes/work. But, Tia’s has found some great success by working with a pitching coach over the past year. Tia has begun working with Ranae Koppenhafer as her pitching coach taking on lessons outside of team practices.
Hitting
“Those who hit, play.” The famous quote of Tia’s Grandpa Jack. He was responsible for both coaching hitting for baseball (for Tia’s dad), and softball (for Tia’s Aunt). Tia’s aunt has coached high school JV and Varsity teams. Even with a family of hitters and coaches, we have found that Matt Lisle’s The Hitting Vault is a great hitting system. This is top tier hitting instruction and results speak for themselves (Alesia Ocasio for example). If you watch the best hitting teams you will see the same swing… that is a high level swing from the hitting vault. Pair this with the Blast Motion Sensor for quantitative feedback and watch the growth happen!
Defense – Throwing
For throwing you have to go to Wasserman’s High Level Throwing. There are other similar programs but this foundation creates kids that can flat huck the ball. For general defense there are two go to’s. MegRem Softball is a new addition to softball YouTube but she is great! Also Morgan Stuart has a great defense club that also focuses on the mental side of the game.
